#63 Your Brain on Sleep!

Lack of sleep is now being shown as a worldwide epidemic and while we all have those sleepless night because of the late nighter we must pull whether it be a project, diversion, caregiving or priority of needs, missing out on a full night’s rest takes a toll on our brain, body, emotions and health. When we skimp on the ZZZ's we are losing out on the longest cycle of the 4th stage of sleep. And stage 3 of sleep, oh my, it is by far my favorite and you’ll never look at the brain in the same way when you hear what happens.  

And.... why is sleep deprivation the leading mode of torture?  Are we torturing our own bodies and brains?  

Dr. Matthew Walker (author of the book, “While you Sleep”, the leading scientist in the study of sleep) regards eating well, exercising and sleep as the 3 pillars of health. He suggests that sleep IS the foundation for the other two and when we elevate our sleep, it elevates all other health endeavors.
